It is time to get excited. We are preparing for the eighth year of our ASCEND dragon boat team!
 
To prepare for ASCEND’s eighth year of participation at this event, we need volunteers to paddle, drum, and support us. Paddlers and drummers please try to make it to our lake practice (1.5 hours) scheduled on August 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM. The practice will be similar to the practices held in prior years. To sign up for practice and/or race day, please use this link. Please complete the attached waiver form as well and send to Ascend Greater Atlanta. Feel free to reach out to Chloe Zhang at chloe.zhang2@ey.com with any questions. 
 
On September 7th, 2019, the Atlanta Hong Kong Association will host the 25th annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival - a one-day event for competitors and spectators to join and cheer dragon boat teams while experiencing a cultural event throughout the day – at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, GA. Special thanks to our co-sponsor EY for sponsoring our boat, tent and other supplies. Lunch and snacks/beverages will be provided by ASCEND on Race Day.
 
This location is considered one of the top locations containing perfect flat water racing conditions in the world. Lake Lanier Olympic Park served as a championship venue for paddle sport since the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. The recent 2018 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships was held here. Participants at this event will have the opportunity to paddle, drum, and/or cheer the team across the finish line which is at the base of the finishing tower used during the 1996 Olympics and during other paddle sport championships.
 
The event features interactive workshops, cultural presentations and dances, networking, team building, international cuisine and dynamic speakers in the spirit of developing our ethnically diverse population with an ancient Chinese celebration.
